Driving Lessons, Drivers with some experience

Driving lessons in Columbus

Private lessons in the car, no classroom. For adults and permit holders who want calm practice before the test, after a long break, or on a road that still feels hard. Two hours cost $200.

Who it's for

  • Permit holders of any age who want more time behind the wheel than family practice gives them.
  • Licensed drivers getting back on the road, new to Columbus traffic, or unsure on highways and roundabouts.
  • Anyone with a test date who wants a run-through of turns, lane position, backing up and the maneuverability box.
  • Bring your permit or license to every lesson: Ohio's driving school rules allow no lesson without a valid one in the car.

Common questions

All questions

Do you pick me up for driving lessons?

Yes. We offer pickup in Columbus and the surrounding areas. Add pickup when you book and we'll confirm your location.

Do I need my permit with me at driving lessons?

Yes. Ohio's driving school rules say we can't give you a lesson unless you have a valid temporary permit or license with you. Bring the card itself: the Ohio BMV says its Mobile ID doesn't replace it.

How long does it take to finish?

Most students finish the online class in 1–2 weeks. Driving lessons are usually done in 4–6 weeks, depending on your availability.

What's on the Ohio driving test?

Two parts: a road test (starting, stopping, turns, signals, lane position, following distance, backing up) and a maneuverability test, where you drive forward through a 9 by 20 foot box of markers and then back through it. Knocking down or running over a marker is an automatic fail.

Are you approved by the state of Ohio?

Yes. The Ohio Department of Public Safety licenses Right Route Driving School for Class D driver training (teens, 18–20 year olds and Limited Term) and for the abbreviated adult course, license 4366. You can find us on the state's lists of approved schools.
